Tipping guide

Quick-service restaurants

Counter service, fast-casual, coffee, and to-go orders paid at the register — often with a tablet asking for a tip.

Etiquette guidance

There is no strong etiquette expectation to tip on a pure counter transaction. A small tip is common when staff prepared a custom order, carried food to your table, or went out of their way. Skipping the tip on a straightforward pickup is a normal and acceptable choice, and cash directly to a staff member is always a valid alternative. Amounts suggested on a payment screen are prompts, not norms.

Try it

Enter your order total and a custom percentage — no preset is applied. Leaving the percentage at 0 is a fully valid choice.
